Upper Deck hockey card values are largely determined based on attributes such as a card being a highly sought after rookie card, as well as with autographs and game worn jersey hockey cards. A superb way of having a great opportunity to find out a true value is by joining Ebay if you are not already a member, and checking the completed auction listings. There are always factors that can determine whether or not a previous selling price is a good indicator of current prices, but at least it is a starting place. All you have to do is type in a card, box, set or other type of product and search for completed listings. By doing that, you will immediately see what the item last sold for and on what day it sold for that. When considering regular Upper Deck series hockey cards, (not including autographs or game worn jersey cards) one part of them comes to mind. Those cards that come to mind are the Young Guns rookie cards, which Upper Deck has included in their regular issue sets since their inaugural edition in 1990-91 Upper Deck starting with the Sergei Federov and Pavel Bure rookie cards. This series has continued with the likes of Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin, Pavel Datsyuk and many more, with those cards being difficult to obtain in unopened packs. This has pushed the value of these Upper Deck hockey cards to high levels, with some Young Guns rookie cards (such as Sidney Crosby) being worth upwards of $100 or more each.
The worth and value of other Upper Deck hockey cards consists mostly of complete sets, insert card sets, autographs, and game worn jersey and material cards. Complete sets of the series one and two hockey cards including the short printed rookie cards can be very valuable. The value of autographs and game worn jersey cards of hockey greats Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemiuex, Gordie Howe, etc. are also highly priced and can bring you a strong cash value in the secondary market. They are not easy to obtain in packs, though Upper Deck has consistently included fantastic chase cards in their packs of cards.
The monetary value of what you can get in cash when selling your Upper Deck hockey cards is determined by what another person is willing to give you for them. Usually, it is best to find the best buyer for your cards and in doing so, being patient to get your asking price is key.
Pictured below as examples of game worn jersey cards from hockey are an Alexei Yashin 2001 Crown Royale game worn jersey card serial numbered to a limited number, as well as a serial numbered Chris Osgood Detroit Red Wings (not in that card though as he was on the St. Louis Blues) game worn jersey card. These are not Upper Deck hockey cards, but at least they are a sampling of great hockey cards that you can find in unopened packs and on Ebay. Here are the key cards of a random hockey vintage card set in 1980-81 Topps hockey: #140 Ray Bourque rookie card and in O-Pee-Chee his rookie card is number 140 as well. Wow, what can be said about this hall of fame rookie other than it is a great card to purchase at a value price, which is likely to be found on Ebay. Wayne Gretzky is card #250 both in Topps and O-Pee-Chee and this is his second year card. I don't have this card in my collection. Mike Gartner has a rookie card in here as well, #195. There is an all star card of Wayne Gretzky, #87 in both, as well as two team leader cards with him on it that are great (#162 and #163 in both as well). Team Leader card #182 is great too. Wow what a great set of hockey cards from a vintage year. There are many more like this in these vintage hockey card sets.
