Topps rookie basketball cards were first produced in 1957-58 Topps with that basketball card set, then again in 1969-70 and up until 1981-82, with them not being produced again until 1992-93. Some of the famous rookie cards include Magic Johnson and Larry Bird from 1980-81 Topps, Bill Russell rookie cards from 1957-58 Topps, Lew Alcindor from 1969-70 Topps, and Pete Maravich from 1970-71 Topps.

The rookie basketball cards from Topps were and are great and are still produced, making it one of Topps best features in my opinion in terms of consistency and it always being a quality basketball card to invest in as first year cards of superstars and hall of famers make for collection centerpieces for years to come.

Starting with the picture on the left, that is a 1992-93 Topps rookie card of Shaquille O'Neal.  Next, is a 1999-00 Topps Gallery Lamar Odom rookie card.  Further, the third card is a Josh Smith 2004-05 Topps Chrome rookie card.  Finally, there is a 2003-04 Topps Chris Bosh rookie card and that is great because he was on Team U.S.A.

These rookie cards I picked because in the article, the Topps basketball rookie vintage cards will not be pictured.  These rookie cards highlight a selection of a future hall of famer (Shaq) and many of today's current superstars who also have a great chance to get into the hall of fame once their playing careers are over.
