Star Company basketball sets produced in the 1980's are very difficult to find and contain some of the most expensive and valuable cards in basketball history.  Authentication and counterfeits are a concern though predominantly because the Michael Jordan rookie card in the regular 1984-85 Star Company set is worth a lot of money even in ungraded condition (significantly more than his 1986-87 Fleer rookie card). 

Star Company team bagged sets are hard to come by factory sealed and are in short supply as they were never overproduced to begin with.  On the home page of this site, I have made a couple of videos so far showcasing many of the cards from these sets on Youtube videos linked to this site.  You can access those free by going to the video gallery here http://www.mybaseballcardspace.info

In future articles coming up soon, I will go into each of the series of bagged sets for specific teams.  Basically, every team in the NBA had a set for their cards and the players on the team that year were in those bagged sets.  For example, if you purchased a 1985 Star Company (1984-85) Chicago Bulls team bagged set, it has the Michael Jordan rookie card in it.  Accordingly, the Atlanta Hawks has Dominique Wilkins, the Knicks from 1986 has Patrick Ewing, and so on and so forth.  There were rumored to be, based on my experience and observation of what the consensus opinion is, 3,000-4,000 sets produced of each team.  Some are printed in even less supply as they are listed as short prints in the price guide.

A price guide such as Beckett or Tuff Stuff can indicate what team bagged sets are worth for the particular team and year.  Not all Chicago Bulls sets are valuable as the 1983-84 Star Bulls team bagged set before Jordan's rookie does not contain him and it is worth only $20-$30 because of that.  Please feel free to click the links on this page as they will lead to great product listings and articles.
