If any of you baseball card collectors are like me, you are probably wondering what my baseball cards value is. I personally do not know but often wonder what my cards are worth. I never have taken the time to add up the book value of them from price guides or to inventory them using online software. I would recommend that if you want to maximize how much you can sell your collection for or how much you should just say yours is worth, that you really have to take some time to go over each card carefully.
I have a decently large sports card collection and when I go about trying to determine what it would be worth, I often get confused. There are so many cards and different factors to consider. One is, even if it has a specific book value from Beckett, it may not necessarily bring as much money as another card of equal book value would. Some players just are more popular and some teams are as well, especially taking regions into account. If you have hockey cards, for instance, selling them in Canada or in states in America that love hockey will treat you well. If you have basketball cards, there are areas that those are quite popular. If you have Derek Jeter rookie cards, New York would be a great place to sell them, but not to buy them there.
The thing I use for simplicity is Ebay prices as far as what items sell for when I want to know what a card of mine is worth.
One thing that they have now on the Internet is software where you can input all of your cards. Beckett has an online system where you can inventory your entire collection(s) and count each item in it. That is a great tool if you have the time to use it. I know for me personally, I do not wish to sell mine so it would just be for informational purposes.

As far as valuing your collection, make sure to not sell yourself short on it. I have looked at my inventory and sometimes think it is worth way less than it really is, or overvalued it. I guess to some extent it is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Knowing your card values though it a big step forward, that way you can say I have such and such dollars worth of material. Unopened boxes, packs, sets, factory sealed items and such are also great to have and can be difficult to measure. This article is a bit confusing and I think it rightfully is so because when I try to come up with a dollar amount of worth for my stuff, I always come up with an I don't know type of solution.

All in all, these players on the L.A. team during the 1980's were incredible, more will be written soon about them on our site. You can subscribe to our rss feed for the site below and join our main community at http://www.mybaseballcardspace.info for free if you would like.
