Baseball cards from 1988 consist of cards from Topps, Fleer, Donruss, and Score, and also include the traded sets and updated sets as well. The Topps Traded set includes rookie cards of Roberto Alomar, and Jim Abbott, as well as players from the Olympics.
1988 Topps Baseball cards available currently on Ebay including sets, boxes, rookies and star cards.
The 1988-89 Fleer Basketball set is a great one. It is highly valued and limited. It went up in value shortly after its release and features many great rookie and star cards. It belongs in any collection.
Packs of this set cost about $20 each and boxes can sell for $400-$500+ depending on where you get it from and the condition of the packs and the box.
Some of the rookie cards in the set are Reggie Miller, Scottie Pippen, John Stockton, Horace Grant, Dennis Rodman, Tyrone "Mugsy" Bogues, Mark Price. There are also star cards of Michael Jordan (his third year card and as sought after as any rookie card in this set), Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. There are also all star subset cards of those players as well and also sticker cards.
1988-89 Fleer basketball cards currently listed for sale including rookie cards of Reggie Miller, Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, John Stockton, Dennis Rodman, a third year card of Michael Jordan, superstar cards of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, and many others. These cards typically have, if you purchase an entire wax box, many of each player in each box. It is very fun to open a box and get several cards of each player in there, and from the box I opened, you can get up to 5 cards of each player, which is pretty awesome.
This set is great to buy a wax box of if you can afford it. Having a set put away for the future is ideal.
In hockey, 1988-89 Topps hockey cards have rookie cards of Brett Hull, a Brendan Shanahan rookie card, a great all star card of Wayne Gretzky, as well as cards of all stars and hall of famers such as Mario Lemiuex.
If you are looking for the best set at the best price, this set currently does not have that value in my opinion. You never know what card collectors will think in the future though, and they may all of a sudden decide that this set is worthwhile. One never knows, I am saving a set and a wax box myself for safe keeping just in case it does go up in value in the future. The Fleer set of baseball cards from 1988 includes rookie cards of Mark Grace, Roberto Alomar (Fleer Update set), as well as second year cards of Barry Bonds and Mark Mcgwire, who have cards in all of the major sets from Topps, Donruss, Fleer, and Score.
The 1988 Topps Football card set is filled with great players and rookie cards yet is still very affordable. The set features rookie cards of Bo Jackson, Vinny Testaverde, Brian Bosworth, Kevin Green and Cornelius Bennett. There are also star cards of Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Jerry Rice, John Elway and many more. The cards are affordable and I would recommend to collectors to have either a set or unopened material of the cards. They are near enough to the more expensive years of football of 1986 to 1987 to possibly move up in value in the years to come.
