Listed on this page are ebay items from 1981-82 topps sports cards.  What I enjoy about this particular year of cards, which includes both hockey and basketball cards, is that you can get many of the great players from the era, and the sets are small in card quantity.  This is a great set for hall of fame basketball players.

When there are not a lot of cards in the sets, that means that if you purchase a wax pack, wax box, or rack or cello box (if available), you are likely to get multiple copies of your favorite players.  In this year of cards, there are many key hall of famers and rookie cards worth mentioning and those will be highlighted on this article so that you know what to look for if you purchase an unopened pack or box.

Starting with 1981-82 Topps basketball cards, here are some of the key players in the set.  Larry Bird has his second year cards in the set, #4 and #E101 (super action card).  Magic Johnson also has second year cards here too, #21 and #W109 super action.  The key rookie card is of Kevin McHale of the Boston Celtics, #E75.  Bill Laimbeer of the Detroit Pistons also has a rookie card in this set as well, #MW74.  Julius Erving, #30, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (#20) are other great examples of hall of famers in this set.  Cards from 1981-82 in near mint or better condition are in demand as it becomes more difficult to find cards in great condition from older years of Topps.

1981-82 Topps Hockey actually may even be a more exciting set than basketball in terms of quantity of rookies and hall of famers that are noteworthy, though it lacks the star power that Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and company provide.  Despite the great rookie cards in this set, Wayne Gretzky has a third year card, #16, that is the highest valued card in the entire 198 card set.  Ray Bourque, #5, has a second year card in here.  Rookies include Jari Kurri #18, Peter Stastny #39, Denis Savard #W75, Larry Murphy #W100, and Dino Ciccarelli #W105.  These are all great cards to own, and if you want a fun year of Hockey and Basketball, this is a great one.
